MATLAB Programm implementiert.
- The last decade, human perceptions of climate change and energy consumption has
changed dramatically. It can be seen that human play a dominant role in climate
change due to the CO2-emissions from fossil energy consumption. There is now a
broad consensus that we need to decrease the use of fossil fuels to reduce depend-
ence on supplier countries and CO2-emissions. In this respect, the best alternative is
to use renewable energy.
Energy from solar radiation is neither continuous nor completely controllable, but virtu-
ally gratis available. In order to compensate for the discontinuous, partly uncontrollable
provision, the energy for its use must be stored as efficiently as possible. Currently,
components are already being used passively as heat storages and cover part of the
heat demand of buildings. For more enormous coverage of this demand, components
can be actively loaded by means of thermal activation. In addition, materials can be
used to increase the thermal storage capacity. Especially interesting are phase change
materials (PCM) which store heat without increasing the temperature.
PCMs show a nonlinear behavior which means new challenges for simulations or con-
trol systems. Therefore, it is essential to model their behavior using a numerical
method. In this dissertation, the finite difference method (FDM) for modeling and sim-
ulating the thermal behavior of thermally activated components with PCM is used and
in order to discretize the differential equations the Crank-Nicolson method has been
applied. In addition, the enthalpy method was used to model the latent behavior of
PCM along with the hysteresis of PCM. The thermal activated components are mod-
eled and simulated using a method called Star-Delta Transformation method. Based
on the above methods and the associated equations, a code has been implemented
in MATLAB program to simulate the thermal behavior of thermally activated component
equipped with PCM. Finally, the complex behavior of PCM was investigated to validate
the numerical model and additionally, the developed code was verified by thermal sim-
ulations of a standardized wall in "ANSYS Workbench". Based on the verified code
and its development as a TRNSYS-Component, the parameterization is carried out. Its
purpose is to design an external wall, taking into account the various parameters, which
can cover the heat demand of the reference building, SFH30 according to IEA SHC
Task32, maximally and equally during the three coldest days in each month of the
heating period. Finally, an optimization code by using the Simulated Annealing Method
was implemented in MATLAB program. This was used to determine the wall construc-
tion, which covers the entire heating requirement of the reference building equally dur-
ing the three coldest days in each month of the heating period.
