Organic sheets are suitable for the series production of fiber reinforced polymer composite components in large quantities. One disadvantage of this type of semi-finished products is the limited range of components that can be produced. Also, organic sheets, like other fiber reinforced polymer composites, are faced with the challenge of not yet having any true recycling concepts. In this work, staple fiber organic sheets made of recycled carbon staple fibers and polyamide 6 as matrix are manufactured and examined with regard to their mechanical performance and formability. The preservation of the material properties was investigated by means of tensile tests, whereby the influence of yarn undulation on tensile properties was analyzed. The quasiplastic deformation of staple fiber organic sheets was fundamentally investigated in tensile tests in the range of and above the matrix melting temperature. An adapted thermoforming process was developed which allows new degrees of freedom for component manufacturing. The local deformation behavior was investigated and a criterion for the evaluation of the homogeneity of the deformation was developed.
